Bookroo Love

I am always looking for great books to share with my children. We spend so much time reading together as a family, I often become tired of the books they keep bringing to me to read over and over. I also should not be allowed to go into a bookstore. I spend way too much money because my kids can always convince me they need all the books they want. Not to mention, heading into the bookstore or the library can be overwhelming! So many choices leave all of us feeling overwhelmed. We end up carrying a heavy load of books home, only to find out that many of the books are duds.

Enter Jane!

When Jane, one of the co-creators of Bookroo, contacted me to see if I would be interested in testing out a subscription to Bookroo, I jumped at the chance. She gave me a discount code (Squee!!! which I get to share with you- keep reading), and I selected which subscription I wanted to order.

Bookroo is a monthly subscription service where you have hand selected book delivered directly to your door. You can choose between picture books or board books. Before you know it, you have a beautifully packaged set of books waiting on your front steps.

My books arrived shortly after we returned from our summer vacation. It was a welcome surprise, as we were all feeling the post vacation blues. My daughters were delighted to find the books beautifully wrapped, which made it feel like Christmas in July. Really! My girls were squealing with excitement. They each got one book and ripped off the lovely wrapping paper.

In the box, we received two lovely hardcover picture books. Amazingly enough, we did not have either of the books. This was honestly my biggest fear- getting classic standard picture books that I have already owned for years. I was delightfully surprised. I have never read or seen either book, which made me feel like I had just been whispered a delicious secret. Hooray for great book finds.

We received The Bear Who Shared by Catherine Rayner and Dream Away written by Julia Durango and Katie Belle Trupiano and illustrated by Robert Goldstrom. The book about sharing prompted Little J to share her evening snack of popcorn with Minnie Mouse. This is a big deal, according to Little J, because stuffed animals don't have real mouths.

After sharing popcorn, she read the book to Minnie Mouse. It is obvious from this picture that they both were enjoying the book.

The second book, Dream Away, is the perfect bedtime storybook. Something about the illustrations had my daughter spending the longest time inspecting each page. She poured over each of the pages asking questions and interrupting the poetic text of the book. This one has certainly been a fast favorite in our house.

I have been so happy with my subscription to Bookroo. This is a small, family operated business, not some corporate warehouse pushing overstocks onto you. I love the idea of ordering this as as a baby shower or birthday gift for friends, something that will be well loved by any busy mom.

So hear is the best part! I get to pass along a discount of $4 off your initial subscription.  Just click on the image below, and your order of a Bookroo subscription will be discounted $4 at checkout.
